From the beginning on, the story of DAMASKO Uhrenmanufaktur is closely related to the Eurofighter test pilots of EADS. Early on, our chronograph DC56 had to undergo numerous suitability tests according to the strict NATO military standard Mil.810, such as various negative pressure and acceleration tests which simulate the stresses during both normal operation and emergency situations. The DC56 has since then been approved for use as a flight instrument in the Eurofighter, and pilots love to wear it.
The DC 56 and DC56 Si are official timepieces of the Eurofighter test pilots and have passed numerous corresponding endurance tests. Due to the constant test phases, the watches were gradually further developed at DAMASKO. The DC56 was upgraded to the DC56 Si with EPS® spring, for more accurate chronometric results and improved shock resistance. Furthermore, the chronometer was equipped with a freely oscillating weight balance wheel.
The rotor was replaced by a DAMASKO rotor running on ceramic ball bearings. The mainspring barrel was reinforced and enables the chronograph to operate for more than 50 hours. For us at DAMASKO working with EADS is a particularly exciting experience as we can get and process direct feedback from the daily hard flight assignment for the evolution of the DC 56 and DC56 Si.
